Cure Parkinson’s Fundraising Heroes: November and December 2025
The dark days and wet weather marking the end of 2025 didn’t dampen the spirits of our fundraising heroes.
Holiday fundraising
Over the Christmas holidays teenage supporter Michael chose to fundraise for us in memory of his grandpa, who lived with Parkinson’s. Taking on two challenges – an impressive running challenge, as well as organising a charity concert – Michael raised over £3,000 in support of our research!
For his running challenge Michael ran 71km over 3 consecutive days, a kilometer for every year of his grandpa’s life. Running more than a half marathon each day was no easy feat, so to keep his spirits up Michael ran to key places he loved to visit with his grandpa, including their favourite sushi restaurant, beach, and mountain trails near the family home in Vancouver.

500 mile running challenge
Longtime supporter Antony has completed five, 100 mile ultramarathons since May; the Thames Path 100, South Downs Way 100, North Down Way 100, and Autumn 100, with the Winter Downs 100 marking his final ultramarathon of the year.
Antony, who lives with Parkinson’s, set off for the Winter Downs 100 on Friday 12 December and the race was his most challenging one yet with short daylight hours, wet weather and a finish just after the infamous Box Hill in Surrey.
With his final race of the year now complete, Antony has raised over £2,200 to be split equally between Cure Parkinson’s and Parkinson’s UK.

Students host an Ozzy tribute show
A group of students studying at Waterbear College of Music in Sheffield had the clever idea to use a college assignment to raise funds and awareness for us. Tasked with organising an event with other students on the Performance and Songwriting course, the group decided to host Ozz Fair – a charity gig inspired by Black Sabbath’s Back to the Beginning show, and in tribute to Ozzy Osbourne.
The students formed a cover band and performed iconic songs from Black Sabbath and Ozzy’s repertoire, and invited other Sheffield based bands and singers to join the stage too.

Time for Tea

In November, Suzanne hosted her own Time for Tea event and raised over £1,000! She invited family, friends and neighbours round for teas, coffees, homemade cakes and a catch up, all in aid of Cure Parkinson’s.

Carols for a cure
For the second year in a row, Celestia Music held their annual carol concert in aid of Cure Parkinson’s at St Luke’s church in Battersea. The talented group performed an array of Christmas songs to the sold-out audience, and were joined by a local school choir for a number of pieces. Attendees were also treated to delightful readings from a range of texts, performed by actors Robert Bathurst and Pandora Clifford.
The audience enjoyed wine and mince pies following the concert and bought raffle tickets with some great prizes on offer. We were thrilled to announce that the event raised a staggering £13,000, and would like to say a huge thank you to Celestia Music.
