Cure Parkinson’s Fundraising Heroes: October 2025
Our Fundraising Heroes took on some inspirational challenges for us in October… including in Crocs!
A 185km trek
Best friends since they were babies, Kate and Sally recently completed an eight-day long walk around the coast of Menorca in aid of Cure Parkinson’s and Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation. They walked the Camí de Cavalls, a 185km route following the ancient bridle path around the coastline of Menorca.
Kate and Sally have raised an impressive £6,170 so far, with the funds to be split equally between the two charities. They also recorded their journey on Instagram, with a page dedicated to the challenge (@sally_kate_walk_menorca).

Hyrox heroes

Meanwhile Danielle and Marc took on the Hyrox fitness competition in Birmingham! Although complete beginners to the Hyrox world, the two friends chose to tackle the infamous competition to raise funds in support of our research as Marc was recently diagnosed with Parkinson’s.
The duo raised over £1,000 for us, and had such a great time they’re already planning future challenges!
There’s no stopping Team Cure
Running is an ever popular fundraising challenge here at Cure Parkinson’s, with this month’s fundraising heroes tackling races up and down the country.
Bill took on the Kent Downs 50 Ultra Challenge – a 50km looped route through the Kent countryside – whilst Theo decided to make the Oxford Half Marathon even trickier by running the race in a pair of Crocs!
Team Cure were also represented at a number of the Great Run events, including Hannah who ran the Great Scottish Run through Glasgow city centre, Stephen who took on the Great South Run for his dad who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2023, and Rob M. who also completed the Great South Run, tackling the race with a group of friends all dressed as characters from Shrek.
Many supporters running for Team Cure do so to honour a loved one affected by Parkinson’s, including Rob I. who ran the Manchester Half Marathon for his dad who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s 10 years ago. Aggie also ran the Manchester Half for her dad who was diagnosed with young onset Parkinson’s 20 years ago, and in memory of her late grandma who lived with the condition. Plus Sarah and Neil took on the Weston Super Mare Half Marathon for Sarah’s mum and aunty who both live with Parkinson’s.
