Cure Parkinson’s Fundraising Heroes walked, cycled, danced and sang to raise funds and awareness for us in August.

Walking the Pembrokeshire Coast Path for Parkinson’s

Rebecca and Lily dedicated most of the month to walking the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, setting off from St Dogmaels and finishing at Amroth. The mother and daughter duo have taken on a number of challenges to raise funds and awareness for Parkinson’s over the years, and this year decided to challenge themselves by completing the 186 mile route over 16 consecutive days. Battling blisters, howling gales and torrential rain along the way, the pair were joined by friends and family for stretches of the route to keep them motivated, and raised a phenomenal £7,700 in support of our research. Thank you, Rebecca and Lily!

Music in the Park

Supporter Sara hosted a mini music festival at her home in East Yorkshire to raise funds and awareness for us. Inspired by the Proms, the concert featured performances by talented local musicians and nearly 550 people attended, helping to raise over £20,000 in support of our research!

Alison’s cycling trip to the Arctic Circle

Meanwhile, trustee and longtime Cure Parkinson’s supporter Alison joined 21 others to cycle through Norway. The team set off from Bodø and finished in Tromso, also known as the capital of the Arctic and where the sun never sets in summer. 14 of the cycling team (including Alison) live with Parkinson’s making this 600km challenge a particularly extraordinary feat, and all raised funds for various Parkinson’s charities – including Cure Parkinson’s!
