A team of 22 cyclists, including Cure Parkinson’s trustee Alison Anderson, take on a 600km cycle through Norway to the capital of the Arctic.

Setting off on 3 August from Bodø, the team will cycle across dramatic Arctic landscapes and rugged terrain for eight days. They will cross into the Arctic Circle before eventually reaching their finishing point in Tromso, the city known as the Arctic capital, where the sun never sets in the summer.

14 of the 22 team members, including Alison who became a trustee of Cure Parkinson’s at the end of 2023, are living with the condition, making this a particularly extraordinary feat. Taking to the saddle alongside Alison will be Parkinson’s UK’s Chair of Trustees Gary Shaughnessy, as well as Jonathan White who helps run a regional Parkinson’s support group. This incredible team is comprised of cyclists from the UK, Norway and Canada!

The team will be raising funds and awareness for different Parkinson’s charities, including Cure Parkinson’s.

“Research shows that exercise can slow down the progression of Parkinson’s. This challenge requires months of the regular exercise so that we can each get fit enough to cycle this amazing landscape. In doing so, we hope to raise awareness of Parkinson’s as well as some funds for our chosen charities.
I’m raising funds for Cure Parkinson’s, as they are a charity that gives hope to so many of us living with the condition that there might one day be a cure.” Alison Anderson
