On Tuesday 28 April, as part of Parkinson’s Awareness Month, we’re asking primary schools and teachers across the UK to get involved with National Superhero Day, where we will celebrate our youngest supporters and how their help makes them superheroes for Cure Parkinson’s.

The aim is to raise awareness of the charity through fun and creative activities in the classroom.

How to get involved

To help get your plans started, we have created an information pack for you to download with ideas of how you might like to incorporate Superhero Day into a regular school day with some easy resources about Parkinson’s; this includes simple guidance explaining the condition, if you think it appropriate – but it isn’t a requirement for taking part.

Fundraising is also not a requirement for taking part in the day, however, if you would like to, you can find some ideas below on how to help your class become fundraising superheroes!

Design an eye mask: Every great superhero needs an eye mask! Have your class design their own, with a prize up for grabs for the winner.

Bake sale: A fundraising favourite! Host a ‘Super Bake Sale’ at break time or in your school’s lunch hour. Think ‘Captain America Cupcakes’ or ‘Batman Brownies’.

Dress up Day: Ask your class to bring in a donation to dress up as their favourite superhero. You could even have a judging panel of parents and teachers to decide on who has the best superhero suit!

Sponsored litter pick: The children in your class could take part in a supervised litter pick in the lunch hall or playground!

These are just some suggestions but if you have some ideas, we’d love to hear from you.
