The Big Give Christmas Challenge is the UK’s biggest match-funded campaign and Cure Parkinson’s is delighted to have been chosen as one of its beneficiaries again in 2024.

If you donated via the Big Give in 2024, your gift was doubled, achieving twice the impact. Together, thanks to your generosity, we raised an incredible £85,919 for our research into the anti-inflammatory drug dapansutrile as a treatment for Parkinson’s – thank you! Learn more about the challenge below.

Double the donation, double the impact

For seven days, from midday on Tuesday 3 December to midday on Tuesday 10 December, every donation made to our campaign via the Big Give website was doubled, which means that each donation made had twice the impact with no extra cost.

Thanks to our incredibly generous match funders, Cure Parkinson’s supporter Phill Robinson and The Julia Rausing Trust, we aimed to hit an ambitious £60,000 target. Our supporters really came together and as a result, we hit that target just 3 days into the campaign!

Following this success, we secured further match funding and extended the campaign target to £80,000. Incredibly, we also reached this target and surpassed it, achieving a final fundraising total of £85,919!

Dapansutrile: A New Hope for Parkinson’s

The challenge was an exciting opportunity for to support the funding of a phase 2 clinical trial of dapansutrile (DAPA-PD), an anti-inflammatory drug, to determine whether it has the potential to slow the progression of Parkinson’s.

The trial will take place in the UK and will involve 36 people with Parkinson’s over a twelve-month period. Our sole aim is to find a cure – this trial could bring us closer to achieving this.

Thank you to all of our amazing funders and supporters!
