A team of incredible supporters from Bromsgrove has taken on the 25-mile long, locally iconic 144 bus route on foot. They have raised over £1950 for our research into a cure for Parkinson’s.

At 9am on 30 May, Sophia Harley, Becki Harley, Bryony Billingham, James Higgs, Abbie T, Jake Kendall and Lydia Owen set off on their challenge from Smallbrook Queensway in Birmingham city centre. They followed the historic 144 bus route for an exhausting 11 hours, passing through Selly Oak, Northfield, Longbridge, Rubery, Bromsgrove and Droitwich Spa. Four of the team finally made it to Worcester around 8pm, where they enjoyed a well-deserved meal!

It was the hardest thing I’ve ever done, and the heat didn’t let up all day, but it was absolutely amazing. We can’t believe how generous and supportive people have been.

Team 144 have done an incredible job at raising both funds and awareness, with First Worcester which runs the 144 bus even donating £250 to the cause.

Cure Parkinson’s is so grateful to all the team for taking on this incredible feat – thank you so much for your support and determination to complete this tough challenge, and on such a hot day.

The group completed this fundraising mission as part of Cure Parkinson’s £1,000 challenge, and managed to smash their target by raising an additional £929! If you’re feeling inspired, you too can sign up to the £1000 challenge.
