February’s fundraising heroes have all taken on long term fundraising events to support our research.

An untraditional triathlon

Fundraising heroes Phil and Sue created their own triathlon-inspired challenge to raise funds for our research following Phil’s Parkinson’s diagnosis and to mark Sue’s 70th birthday. They embarked on their 70/70/70 challenge with a goal of walking 70 miles, cycling 70 miles and swimming 70 kilometers between November 2023 and February 2024.

The duo got out and about wherever they could to knock the miles and kilometers off their target, including walking part of the Coast Path when on holiday in Wales and braving a Christmas Day sea swim (without wetsuits!) to make sure they reached their goal. After receiving so many donations from family, friends and their local community, they decided to increase their fundraising target too – and absolutely smashed their goal!

Running for research

Based in the idyllic Cotswold’s village of Bourton-on-the-Water, local running club the Bourton Road Runners have chosen Cure Parkinson’s to be a charity partner for 2024! Their first event of the year, the Bourton-on-the-Water 10k, took place on Sunday 25 February and was a huge success with many runners travelling from afar to take part in the race.

The Bourton Road Runners have a calendar full of upcoming races and exciting fundraising events in the works for 2024, and we are delighted to be their principle charity partner this year.
