Tom Isaacs is Managing Director of Movers & Shakers - Tom is supported by Graeme Thomson and Helen Matthews as co-directors.
Tom Isaacs was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease at the young age of 27 and since 1999 has raised over £400,000 for Parkinson's Disease Society research projects. Having already raised £40,000 completing a 1,250 mile walk from John O’Groats to Lands End, he left his job as a director of a London property company in 2002 to undertake his Coastin’ challenge. Between April 2002 and April 2003, Tom walked 4,500 miles around the coastline of Britain, climbed the highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales and ran the Flora London Marathon, raising funds and helping build awareness and understanding of the disease. During that year Tom met representatives from over 90 Parkinson's Disease groups around the coast, gave more than 190 interviews to local and national media and walked with more than 40 MPs, nine Mayors, and 16 celebrities.
Tom was runner up in the GMTV/Daily Mirror Fundraiser of the Year Award 2004 and was the UK’s “Charity Personality of the Year” in 2005. He is now Managing Director of Movers and Shakers.
Helen Matthews (Trust Co-ordinator) Helen is a PR specialist, but this is just one of her many talents. She is experienced in marketing, event planning and administration. Helen was also responsible for the extraordinary PR success of Coastin’ which has since been recognised with an “Honourable Mention” at the PR industry’s Golden World Awards. Helen is a director of Movers & Shakers CPT Ltd.
Dr Richard Wyse (Director of Research and Development) Richard's role within The Cure Parkinson's Trust is to monitor scientific and medical developments into the causes and treatment of Parkindon's disease (PD) to design and foster promising new lines of therapeutic research, and to promote beneficial worldwide scientific, clinical & new technical collaborations across the PD community.
Theresa Samworth (Business Development Manager) is a law graduate, who before joining the trust worked in recruitment, executive search and business development, her experience includes working for a number of years for The Law Society. Theresa joined The Cure Parkinson’s Trust with the specific remit of engaging Trusts and corporate supporters, attaining sponsorship for events, assisting with event planning and coordination, supporting individual fundraising and managing the ‘Friends of The Cure Parkinson’s Trust’ scheme.
David Gwynne Evans (Finance) Though his accountancy practice, Gwynne-Evans & Co, David is the accountant and company secretary for both CPT and M&S(CPT). David is a Chartered Accountant who trained and qualified with Coopers & Lybrand and was UK Finance Director of The Jim Henson Company for 8 years to 2003. David now runs his own practice in North West London providing practical accountancy and taxation advice to small and medium sized companies.
