SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCES AND RESEARCH EVENTS
World Parkinsons Congress 2010
This year World Parkinson Congress is coming to Glasgow between 28th September and 1st October, bringing together the whole Parkinson’s community: People with Parkinson’s (PwPs), carers, healthcare professionals and researchers. The Cure Parkinson’s Trust sees this as an invaluable opportunity to ensure that People with Parkinson’s are placed at the centre of the research agenda.
The full programme can be accessed at www.worldpdcongress.org
As well as attending the sessions, there are a number of ways to get involved:
“Ask the Experts” - staffed by the Parkinson’s Advocacy Group which has a breadth of experience to answer wide ranging medical, scientific and care related questions.
Post a question on the Q&A wall, where questions raised in sessions, or afterwards are responded to quickly and accurately.
Challenge yourself at Wii-fit – great for assessing balance
Submit an Abstract for a Poster for the “Living with Parkinson’s Poster Exhibition” – Abstract deadline 7th June 2010. Posters should highlight and share details of programmes and projects that help people with PD to take control of their PD and bring about change on a local, regional or national level. There are 5 categories:
Create a panel for The Parkinson’s Quilt, a project designed to reflect the creativity and variety of PwP. More details available at www.worldpdcongress.org
Party at The Wobbly Banquet, the anti-dote to charity dinners – further details at www.wobblywilliams.com
Join The Brain Game on 1st October 2010 – a free quiz night hosted by Tony Hawks, comedian, who went “Round Ireland with a Fridge”. Participants will be divided into teams: PwP vs neurologists vs nurses vs journalists.
Relax and rewind in the Renewal Room
The Congress will be a tremendous opportunity to learn more about Parkinson’s, and The Cure Parkinson’s Trust is doing all it can to generate interest in this important event.
