On the weekend of the 4 and 5 September, Cure Parkinson’s supporter Alex Green (pictured below) took on the fantastic challenge of running 102 miles of the Cotswold Way raising vital funds and awareness of our pioneering Parkinson’s research.

Alex decided to take on this amazing challenge in memory of his Nan, who had Parkinson’s. He said:

As far back as I can remember, I picture my Nan with the shakes…that progressed to the point where she spent her last couple of years not being in control of her body…but the sparkle in her eye when she saw you was never lost.

The choice to take on the route through the Cotswold Way was particularly important to Alex, as it took him from where he is currently based, past his beloved Nan’s house to his old school where her and his Grandad, ‘Bamps’ would have the duty of picking him up! He said:

The Cotswold Way is just a beautiful trail so it was hard not to enjoy the experience. I am proud that I have managed to raise a substantial amount of money for Cure Parkinson’s and cannot thank everyone who has sponsored me, and my crew that made both the 50 mile and 100 mile challenge possible, enough.

Alex’s fundraising efforts are not only incredibly heart-warming, but truly inspirational, as he has managed to raise over £1,500 for our ground-breaking research into a cure for Parkinson’s; and particularly during these uncertain times, we’d like to say a huge thank you Alex for your support – we are very grateful.
